Hintze Hall Refurbishment for Natural History Museum
Baker Mallett was appointed to provide cost consultancy services for the refurbishment and re-presentation of the Hintze Hall at the Natural History Museum.
This is a particularly challenging project as it involves the complete refurbishment of ground, first and second floor display areas, including replacement of some of the rooflights above what is the main focal point of the Museum, whilst maintaining visitor access throughout. The project includes conservation work to the terracotta wall linings and features, and restoration work to mosaic flooring.
The project is being procured using JCT Standard Form of Building Contract 2011, with the provision and installation of showcases being procured as a Nominated Sub-contract. Works are programmed to commence on site in late 2015, with completion in Summer 2017.
Baker Mallett has subsequently been commissioned to provide Principal Designer services on the project.
