Thursday 20th June 2019 saw our staff member Helen Hatton complete her volunteering at Jack & Jill nursey in Warrington. Helen first visited a local garden centre to stock up on plants kindly donated by Baker Mallett
On arrival Helens first job was to empty her car boot of all the plants and she then set upon her first job of the day, weeding all the borders. Following that she was led to the designated area of the garden by the nursery staff where Helen tidied up and planted away with the help of some of the nursery children. With the sun shining the children had a great time assisting Helen with digging holes in preparation for the plants with Helen educating them of the importance of ‘sunshine and water’.
“It was so rewarding seeing their faces concentrating and also seeing the before and after results, the children enjoyed themselves, even if there were more interested in the worms they dug up”
Once the garden area was finished Helen was invited by the staff to join them with activities outside and definitely kept them entertained!!
