Baker Mallett are delighted to have supported our client Warrington & Co on the Great Sankey Neighbourhood Hub.
Acting in a Project Development Management role the project involved the re-development of the pre-existing Great Sankey Leisure Centre in to a new Neighbourhood Community Hub facility, that compliments Warrington Borough Council’s other leisure facilities at Orford, Woolston and Broomfields.
The project included the significant phased demolition of all previous facilities apart from the Sports Hall and Swimming Pool Buildings, which were completely refurbished along with a newly replaced pool and plant system. The new elements of the Neighbourhood Hub were reconstructed around these central features, which included reception area with library, digital well-being, greeting and meeting spaces, catering offer, pharmacy, health service facilities, spa facility, spin studio, fully equipped gymnasium, conference and office spaces, changing facilities and externally, new tennis courts, 3g pitches, car parking and external infrastructure. Numerous stakeholder management activities were also a major part of the project.
Great Sankey Neighbourhood Hub is a truly fantastic state of the art facility and became the first public building in the world to achieve the DSDC’s Gold Award for its dementia friendly architecture, design and facilities.
We are very proud and honoured to have worked on this award winning scheme so close to our Head Office in Warrington and the project further re-iterates our strong and ever growing relationship with the team at Warrington & Co.
