Baker Mallett involved in new wildlife project

Mark Pattinson from our Whitehaven Office has been involved in a fantastic new wildlife project to protect and reintroduce pollinators in Copeland.

Mark along with a number of volunteers have taken part in bulb planting sessions across Whitehaven and Distington which has already seen 17,000 Blue Bells and 9000 Daffodil bulbs planted. This is part of a £1.6m project which aims to tackle a decline in bees and other pollinators. Copeland Council themselves have received £60,000 to create havens for insects spanning 10,000 square metres.

A fantastic initiative and one of which Baker Mallett are very proud to have contributed to. Well done Mark!

Volunteering for the National Trust

Thursday 26th September saw Baker Mallett back out in the community with Claire Spedding and David Baxter from the Whitehaven Office completing their volunteering with the National Trust at St Bees Beach.

Claire and David were involved with their ‘Colourful Coast’ Scheme, litter picking across the whole of the St Bees Beach, picking up items ranging from fishing rope to water bottles which had got washed up on the beach.

This is a fantastic initiative with the Whitehaven Office looking to get involved with further schemes in the future!

Baker Mallett First Class Cup 2019

Thursday 26th September saw Baker Mallett host their annual 5 a side football tournament at Fives Football in Manchester.

The event is an afternoon of competition and fun where a number of organisations within the industry come along and support the event for a nominated charity. This year saw us raise £2,400 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The Baker Mallett team performed brilliantly throughout the group stages and unfortunately exited the tournament in the knock out stages. More importantly though, the team contributed a total of 3 hours to the BM 100 Hours Service to the Community.

A massive well done to Tom Mazzitelli, Mark Gibson, Joe Hughes and Michael Lawton!
