18 teams of property professionals from around the north west came together on Thursday 26th September to take part in Baker Mallett’s annual charity five a side tournament, this year in aid of Macmillan Nurses.
Now in its 4th year, the event took place at Fives in Trafford Park, where John Turner Construction Group were ultimately crowned this year’s champion. A huge thank you goes to all participating companies AEW Architects, Building Careers UK, Catering Projects, Clancy Consulting, Eton Environmental, Fairhursts Design Group, Fletcher Rae, Gariff Construction, Gilling Dod, Hoare Lea, John Turner, JYM Partnership, McGoff Group, Seddon, SI Sealy and Steven Hunt & Associates.
A total of £2,400 was raised for Macmillan Nurses on the day. Their representative in attendance Cheryl Jenkinson commented, ‘’We are delighted that Baker Mallett selected us as their chosen charity partner for their annual football tournament. At Macmillan, our ambition is to be there for the 1000’s of people in the UK who are diagnosed with cancer each and every day. The sad truth is, at the moment Macmillan can only be there for one in four people with cancer due to lack of funds. As 98% of our income comes from generous businesses and supporters like Baker Mallett these funds make a huge difference and allow us to be able to support people living with cancer. The £2,400 raised will help fund our nurses, our support workers, our information managers and our service teams. If you require Macmillan’s support please call our support line team on 0808 808 0000 which is open 7 days a week from 8am – 8pm’’.
Chris Pasquill, Executive Partner at Baker Mallett added “This event has fast become one of our favourite days of the year. To see so many people joining in for an afternoon of fun but with an added purpose is wonderful to see. Over the last 4 years we have raised £10,000 from this event alone and it’s been shared between charities that mean something personally to our team. It’s our pleasure to host and we are already looking forward to next year”
