Baker Mallett were appointed to provide full Pre and Post Contract Quantity Surveying services for English Heritage Trust’s project for the repairs and consolidation works at Reculver Towers.
The Roman Fort at Reculver was the site of one of the earliest Roman forts built against Saxon raids on the ‘Saxon Shore’. It later became the site of an Anglo-Saxon monastery before becoming the Parish Church for Reculver.
The twin towers at Reculver date back to the 12th century and were built as part of the remodelling of the church at that time.
Much of the site has been lost to coastal erosion, but alongside the twin towers are the ruined remains of the early Roman fort which form the focus for this project.
This project involved undertaking a programme of repairs and consolidation works to the central wall between the two actual towers providing full pre and post contract Quantity Surveying services for the English Heritage Trust.
