Quantity Surveyor

Job title: Quantity Surveyor
Reporting to: Jamie Gruszka – Managing QS
Location: Warrington
Working hours / pattern: 36 hours per week

Are you commercially astute with proven experience within the Construction Industry?

Do you have a strong teamwork ethic, and the desire to provide a high-quality service for our valued clients?

As Quantity Surveyor you will be a qualified industry professional with expert knowledge on construction, contracts and costs. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management and delivery of projects and cover the entire process, from concept design to completion.

You will act as the key, day to day client interface, ensuring that client objectives are met through the delivery of a robust value-added cost management service.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct preliminary research to evaluate contractors
  • Produce regular cost reports
  • Prepare monthly cash flow forecasts
  • Carry out Site Visits and Inspections
  • Prepare and administer procurement advice, tenders and tender reviews.
  • Prepare and administer interim valuations, contractors claims and settlement of final accounts.
  • Prepare contract variations and review with senior staff
  • Assist the Senior team in ensuring all levels of service are being maintained
  • Manage and take ownership of estimating and cost planning activities, to include presenting the final cost plan including developing whole life cycle cost models
  • Manage the procurement process, ensuring that all stages, including pre-qualification, Bills of Quantities, analysis, selection and contract preparation are performed effectively
  • Ensure that project cost variances and change control processes are effectively and pro-actively managed
  • Ensure that Baker Mallett SHEQ procedures are adhered to at all times

Essential Criteria

  • Degree qualified within relevant discipline and be able to evidence your commercial and contractual understanding
  • Good Budgeting, financial and problem-solving skills
  • Some travel is to be expected
  • 3 years PQE or MRICS qualified
