The newest location to be added to the Baker Mallett Office family is Sheffield and so as we get to know our new regional home, we thought we would share a few fascinating facts about the region:
ONE:
Many people still often think Sheffield is an industrial city but it’s actually one of the greenest cities in the UK. In fact, it has the highest ratio of trees to people in Europe.
TWO:
The name Sheffield comes from the river Sheaf, one of several rivers that run through the city.
THREE:
Sheffield is home to the world’s oldest football club. Sheffield FC was founded in 1857.
FOUR:
The city is well known for its music scene and has produced artists such as Def Leppard, Pulp, Artic Monkeys and The Human League. Sheffield Arena even played host to Tina Turner’s last ever concert.
FIVE:
During the Industrial Revolution Sheffield came into its own through the metals industry with stainless steel and crucible. This is where the Crucible Theatre gets its name.
AND FINALLY:
Our Baker Mallett Office Partner in charge is actually Sheffield born and bred. Andrew Harrison joined the business in 2018 as Partner responsible for Project Management & Building Surveying, nationally. He has now added to his responsibilities with the running of this regional office. He is passionate about his home town and is enjoying making a contribution to its future. We also love the way he says “opportunity”.
We are now settling back into our home at St James House and are completely COVID safe. If you would like to meet with either Andrew or our Business Development Manager Jon McAlister to talk about the region and how we might work together, please email jon.mcalister@bakermallett.com to arrange a time and we’ll have a “proper brew” waiting for you.
